This week we would like to showcase why you should visit Abergavenny with one of Sacha, Maria and Michelle’s absolute favourite walks – the Llanwenarth Citra Usk river loop.

At around 4 miles in length and with fairly level terrain, it’s great for a quick 1.5-hour stroll with all the family – but you might bump in to sheep or cows so dogs should be kept on a lead.

The gentle landscape of the river basin is so gorgeous and the wide views of all of Abergavenny’s ‘mountains’ make this a firm favourite.

Maria tells us ‘It’s an absolute treat at any time of day – we’ve seen otters, herons, great egrets, kingfishers & swans – as well as the cows, horses and sheep that you’ll find in the fields. It’s a great walk to stop and enjoy a picnic and one of the best places for a quick river dip!’
